MOST COMPETITIVE COURSES

There are lot of courses in Nigerian universities but some are more competitive than the other.
How do I know they are competitive? Simple! Take a look at the previous years cut off marks and
You will know what I’m talking about.

POST OUTLINES

1. Biochemistry.

2. Computer science.

3. Electrical/Electronic engineering.

4. Political science.

5. Nursing.

6. Dentistry and dental surgery.

7. Agriculture.

8. Petrochemical engineering.

9. Law.

10. Medicine and surgery.

Below are the list of competitive courses in Nigeria starting from the least course ;

10. BIOCHEMISTRY

This course is competitive, a lot of candidate prefer to choose this course, why?
Just because they think they can cross over to medicine, Now you see why it is included.

9. COMPUTER SCIENCE

It is now longer a news that we are in the “computer world”.Candidate
choose this course because they believe that there are a lot of opportunities for the courses.

8. ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

Everybody want to become an engineer one way or the other . As the world is moving fast, so as technology. A lot of opportunity are in engineering, sincerely.

7. POLITICAL SCIENCE

We all know what is going on in Nigeria politics, I should not be telling you.
Everybody want to play politics one way or the other. In Nigeria, there are a lot of opportunities
For those who know who (connections).

6. NURSING

Nurse, Nurse! The title sounds good to the ear right? Yeah. Most female candidates will fill in
for nursing , like 60% of them. Nursing is a good course in Nigeria. You don’t have to look for job before
you see one.

5. DENTITARY AND DENTAL SURGERY

Due to the limited slot to this course in universities, There is high competition . What do i mean? For example OAU admit only 25 student in this course, UI admit only 40 while some other school admit 10 candidate. Now you should know for yourself.

4. AGRICULTURE

Lately, there have been rise in the cut off mark of any agriculture related courses which means that the number of students applying for these courses are increasing year after year.

Read Also: Questions asked during screening and how to answer them

3. PETROCHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Everybody wants to work in CHEVRON, NNPC and so on, why? Maybe because of the huge salary and allowances since that is what students pursue. As a result of this, high number of students apply for this course.

2. LAW

We all what law means. It makes you a lawyer. 90% of art students apply for this course year after year. Maybe because of the respect they earn from people, I just don’t know.

1. MEDICINE & SURGERY

80% of the science students want to become doctors maybe because their parents wants them to be, or maybe because of the respect and honour in the course. It shouldn’t be new to you anymore that medicine have the medicine have the highest cut off mark which means it is competitive.

Remember these list are from my research, that is why I clearly state reasons; so if you do agree or you feel the list is not complete. Then you can comment below with your reasons clearly stated.

I love your comments. It is highly welcome.

LESS COMPETITIVE COURSES IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

Hello, are you searching for a less competitive course to apply here in Nigeria? Look no further, as I bring to you 7 less competitive courses that will gain you easy admission. Though, getting admitted to study any course in Nigeria , isn’t an easy task. But the once mentioned below makes the task more easier.

So, let’s get going!!

VETERINARY MEDICINE
One preceding feature of students in this present day, is that they do not want any Job that will dirty their clothes. Even if it is a very profitable one. ALL they want is, the kind of job that require wearing of ‘SUITS’. Even when it’s not much lucrative.

Veterinary Medicine is one of those courses students detest. But I must confess that, It is a very lucrative course. One other advantage of studying this course, is that it is very easy to gain admission to study it in the University, since many students detest it.

LANGUAGES
Studying Languages is not as bad as many students had assumed. Most people say they end up teaching. But this is not always true. There are also places where a language professionalist may be required. For instance, people working as ambassadors, representing the country outside. Or even working on medias such as the www.naij.com, www.chanelstv.com, www.gidifans.com. All these media surely require a person with high professionalism in language. So you see, it is also very lucrative as well.

Agriculture:
This is another lucrative course for students searching for a Less competitive course they can engage in. At present, Nigeria has less number of people wanting to go into farming, and this has greatly made the course more profitable. Even when many students know that this course is profitable, they still find it very difficult to study it because of this same this same primitive ideology. Getting admission to study Agriculture, is also very easy. For these reasons I enjoin everyone searching for a less competitive course to study to consider studying Agriculture.

EDUCATION RELATED COURSES
I don’t know about you, but I don’t think education courses are very odd. Education courses do not just earn you cash, they earn you much respect and honor from the public. Persons with much professionalism on courses like this one, can work in higher institutions and many other places. One other advantage here, is its easy admission offering in any institution at all. Education courses should be good choices of courses to make.

AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING
This deals with the construction and improvement of farming equipment and machinery. With no doubt, Agricultural engineering is another less competitive course in Nigeria. However, people believe the primitive ideology that states ‘Agriculture is a dirty job, and is meant for rural people ‘. Well, in Nigeria today Agriculture pays well and it should also be a good choice of study for students looking for a less competitive course in Nigeria as well.

MATHEMATICS
Because of the complexity of Mathematics, many student in Nigeria have refused to study it in the University. Thus, they have developed much detest for the subject. This notwithstanding, has made the course very cheap and easy for students to get admitted to study. If you are looking for a course that will offer you easy admission here in Nigeria, Then Mathematics should be one of them.

BUILDING TECHNOLOGY
Just as the Name Implies, Building Technology has to do with construction of edifice(building). One striking probs about this course is that, it is very lucrative and less competitive too. If you want to get easy admission to the University, then building technology is a considerable choice for you, since it pays well and also reduce the streets of getting administration to the University.

GEOLOGY
Geology might not be as profitable as other courses mentioned above, but it is a good idea for students who will want to get easy admission into the university, due to its less competitive nature. Geology has to do with the study of the earth processes, such as landslides, earthquakes, floods etc.

TIPS TO HIGH JAMB SCORE - ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

The need for high JAMB score in your quest for University admission cannot be overemphasized. The question now is, how can I score very high in Jamb 2018? The answers are:

 Early Preparations.

 Get the right textbooks

 Develop a study habit.

 Use past questions.

 Identify your weak point.

 Understand the association connection.

 Learn the exam strategies

 Study read.

 Be Up to date.

 Learn basic concepts in computer.

1. EARLY PREPARATIONS:

Don’t wait for the exams to be close before you start preparations. Early preparation gives you an edge; don’t think that there is still time.

Live your life with sense of urgency. Have the mentality,  ” I am behind schedule”. Begin to set targets because it will give you a powerful drive towards the exam.

Do you want to score 350+ in Jamb? It all begins from now. Remember, a man who fails to plan is indirectly planning to fail.

Joshua Abuwa said, “The problem with a lot of young persons today is that they don’t have visions, they only have television”. In your quest for university admission, what can you see?. Your worth in life is tied to the quality use of your mind.

2.  GET THE RIGHT BOOKS:

Empty the coins  in your purse into your mind and your mind will fill your purse with gold. Reading quality books for your examination will give you nothing, but quality grades.

For every examination, there is a course outline. This guides you on the topics and parts of the topics to cover. It is essential you get the books that cover the required topics and sub-topics.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) usually recommends texts. Get them and start studying as soon as possible.

3. DEVELOP A STUDY HABIT:

Your habits determine your habitat. It is high time you develop a solid study habit. Need help? here is how to start. Before you study, make sure that you are relaxed physically, emotionally and mentally. The following study  practices might be of good help to you.

Study in an environment that is best conducive for you. It doesn’t really need to be calm; if a noisy area is OK for you, go with it.

Read with revelation. Draw a plan of what you should achieve after the study.

All materials that guarantee smooth learning must be ready to avoid searching in the midst of learning.

Get a Jotter to put down salient facts.

Don’t skip any part of the material if you don’t understand it.

Prepare a study time-table and follow it consecutively.

Prepare a rest and recreation time-table too. Funny?

Read the 10 secrets of successful students and

How to remember 90% of what you have read

4. USE PAST QUESTIONS:

Past questions are the picture of the future. The future here speaks of the exam you are preparing for. Studying with past questions will act as positive catalyst for your exam. The importance of past questions is they help you to:

Know the nature of questions to expect.

Identify the dark spots in your text books

Take note of the frequently asked questions.

Examine your level of preparation by putting yourself in the exam condition.

Boosts your confidence.

Note: Most past questions pack have answers at the back. Do not check the answers before you solve the problems. Just make sure that you understand the questions.

5. IDENTIFY YOUR WEAK POINT:

Like I always say, “telling yourself the truth is honesty but telling others is integrity.

Find out what works for you and what doesn’t. Find that the subjects and topics you find very easy to learn. In addition, don’t run away from the ones giving you tough time.

Do everything possible to give them tough time too. Just imagine losing 80 marks in mathematics just because you fail to fall in love with it. Handle your weakness or your weakness will handle you.

6. THE ASSOCIATION CONNECTION:

Who you associate with determines whether you will dissociate or appreciate. There are people who add to your life, those that subtract from you, those that divide and those that multiply you.

Identify those who add to and multiply your success. There is no where you want to go that people haven’t gone to. Look for people whose realities are your dreams.

7. LEARN THE EXAM STRATEGIES:

There are things that don’t seem reasonable but are capable of making you responsible. Understand the following strategies:

Any question you get wrong, there are people who will get it right.

Some answers follow a pattern. This pattern can help you get the questions you don’t know the correct answers to.

After every 30 minutes go back to the questions you think you have answered to be sure if you actually answered it correctly. Sometimes the brain deceives.

Increase your speed and don’t leave any option blank.

8. STUDY DEEPLY:

No matter the motivational books you have read on exam success, the efficacy of hard work cannot be over emphasized. Don’t study for exams the way you study newspapers. Put in effort in your study. Study, but study wise.

9. BE UP TO DATE:

Be up to date on your exam date and procedures. Don’t fail to read articles relating to exam success as well. Visit Bentenblog for news relating to your school.

10. LEARN BASIC CONCEPTS:

Learn computer since most of your exams will be computer based. Make sure you click the answers and also confirm that you have actually ticked.

University Admission! University Admission!!  Your University Admission is sure. Share with your friends. I will like to hear from you via the comment box below

5 Things to know Before Purchasing JAMB Form

If you are reading this post, then that means you want to sit for the upcoming UTME exam. Then i congratulate you because you are at the right place. Gidifans is here to help you even when preparing for your exams.

We will like to tell you things you need to know before registering for JAMB exam.

1. Your Name is very important:

Yes, your name can cost you your admission if you spell your name wrong. I have seen students been admitted by JAMB but were rejected by the University during clearance because of their names does not correlate with other documents like O’level result certificate, birth certificate etc.

Although, JAMB use to allow for ” change of data” where you can correct your name incase you made mistake, but to be on a safer side, make sure you carefully spell your name to the JAMB official that is going to register you.

2. Know The Course You Want To Study:

I usually find it funny whenever a student says he doesn’t know the course to pick. Course is not something you should pick at random, course is something you have passion for, something you have knowledge about.

Don’t let anyone decide your course for you. If you are having problem choosing a course, i already made a post they will help you decide the course you really want to study. Click the link below to read the post.

3. Know the subject combination for your course :

Alot of student make this mistake by choosing wrong subject combinations for their course. If you want to avoid any form of mistake, then i will advise you to use “JAMB BROCHURE”, look for your course and you will see the subject combination for the course.

Remember, this mistake can not be amend after you have sat for the exam, which means your admission for that year is not certain. Be wise!!!

4. Use one sitting result :

I have come to realize that students with one sitting result have more advantage than students using two sitting results. I have already made a post about the ” possible disadvantages of using two sitting result “, you can click the link below to read it.

Also make sure your minimum grade in your WAEC/NECO/GCE is “C6”, anything more than that, won’t be accepted by the University you choose.

5. Your Date of Birth:

Don’t ever make a mistake of changing your date of birth because your admission can be revoke by JAMB or by the University if they find out.

Minimum age federal universities accept is 16 years old, anything less than that, might not work out. If you are 15 year’s old, just relax and wait for the following year or you can apply to private university if you can afford it.

Having said all this, you can now go and register for JAMB, wish you success.
If you have any kind of admission issues, then let me know through the comment or send a mail to my email address.

Thank You.
