ASUU TO MEET WITH FG BEFORE STRIKE IS CALLED OFF ENTIRELY

There are indications that the Academic Staff Union of Universities may meet with the Federal Government this week over the ongoing strike by the union.

The union had earlier over the weekend to decode whether or not to call off the strike.

The FG had during the meeting with ASUU leadership in Abuja offered to pay N23bn and a monthly payment of N1.5bn pending the outcome of the forensic audit being carried out by the Ministry of Finance.

According to a source, “The ASUU meeting which held last Saturday at UniAbuja discussed the offers made by the government and whether the strike should be called off on the basis of the offers made by the government.

“It was decided that ASUU might seek an audience with the government this week to negotiate further concessions before the strike is called off.”

ALL DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR 2017/18 POST-UTME/SCREENING PROCESSES

This post is to point out and explain where necessary the important documents and other requirements you will need for your schools (university, polytechnic, College of education) post-UTME/DE admission screening exercise.
Like you may have known already, the post-UTME admission screening exercise involves the verification of candidates’s UTME/O’level results and other relevant documents
You are expected to get most of this documents/ requirements ready before the post-UTME. DE admission screening of your school of choice commences.
So candidates are to ensure they get all the necessary documents ready to avoid having issues or unnecessary delay getting it later.
For the sake of clarity and emphasis, let’s number them individually;
1. Get Your O’level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB) Ready: Depending on the nature of the screening, you will be required to present copies of your O’level Statement of result or O’level Original Certificate. The results must be obtained in not more than two sittings.
If it is up to four years you wrote the O’level examination, you will need to present the original certificate of your result not statement of results. But if it is less than 4 years you wrote the O’level examination, you can present your O’level statement of result. It will be accepted.
The reason for this is that the Original Certificates of O’level results are made available after 4 years. So it is expected that your Original Certificate should be ready after four years. If your O’level result is up to four years, you better go and get the original certificate.
2. Certificates of JUPEB, ND, NCE, IJMB etc : This is for only direct entry candidates. You will be required to present the original copies of whatever certificate you have obtained that qualified you for Direct Entry admission.
3. JAMB Direct Entry Registration Slip: This is only for direct Entry candidates.
4. UTME Result Printout: This is your Original JAMB Result Slip. The one that has your passport photograph on it. You will need to print this document out from JAMB website when it becomes available.
5. JAMB Data: JAMB data includes information like your JAMB, Registration number, JAMB score, UTME Subject combination etc. If you are applying for an online screening, you will be required to provide these information.
6. Birth Certificate/ Age Declaration: You already know what a Birth certificate is. In a situation whereby your birth certificate is lost or not available, you can go to any court and get what is called affidavit of age declaration.
7. Local Government Area Certificate of Origin: This is an official document that indicates your Local Government Area (LGA) and state of origin. You can get this at your Local Government Area secretariat in your state of origin.
8. Passport Photograph: Schools have their specifications when it comes to passport photograph. Some will require red background while others will require a white background. UNIBEN usually demands a recent red back ground passport. Your school will specify which one is needed when they announce the screening form. So ensure you follow the instructions. The passport should also be recent. At least not more than two months it was taken.
9. Online Admission screening registration printout: This is the document you print out after registering for your school’s post-UTME/DE admission screening exercise. The document is usually needed if your school calls for a physical screening, an Aptitude test/Oral interview.
10. Guarantor’s or Referee’s Letter: Not all schools demand for this. You school will specify if this is needed. it is just a letter from your parents or sponsor indicating that you are of good conduct and that they will be able to take care of the financial implication if your stay in the school.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SCHOOL's POST-UTME/DE

Many candidates have been asking questions on the kind of preparations they need ahead of their school’s post-UTME admission screening exercise

The purpose of this post is to give you heads up on how to prepare for your school’s Post-UTME/DE admission screening exercise.
The screening exercise may involve verification of your O’level results and other relevant documents. It may also be in form of Post-UTME aptitude test or an oral interview.
With the return of post utme,  some schools will likely conduct aptitude test/oral interview. If your school of choice falls in this category, then you will have to prepare accordingly. Study the subjects directly relevant to the course you applied for. It is advisable you equally get acquainted with current affairs.
For Direct Entry candidates, you will  take an aptitude test or go through an interview process.
You do not need to start worrying your head on the kind of screening method your school of choice is going to use as the school will let you know when it announces its screening registration. You will equally be given time to prepare if it is going to be an aptitude test.

Steps to Prepare For Your School’s Admission Screening

Regardless of the screening method of your school of choice, below are the important preparation tips you should note;
  • Get all necessary documents . You can keep them safe in a file while you wait for your school to announce the screening. Do not wait till the screening is announced before running helter skelter
  • If  your school specifies that it will be a physical screening, please ensure you dress well when going. Let your dressing be formal. Do not look irresponsible. If you have tattoos or piercings on your body, remove or at least wear something that can cover them when hoping for your physical screening.
  • If your school’s screening method is Post-UTME aptitude test/ oral Interview, then you are to make sure you prepare well for it since your admission depends totally on you performance during test or interview. Just read up current affairs, subjects related to your course of study and know a few things about the school like when the institution was founded, who is the current Vice Chancellor (for universities), Rector (for polytechnics) or provost (for colleges of education) as the case may be. You can also study the Post-UTME Past questions of the schools.
  • Most importantly, try to stay updated as to know when the admission screening exercise of your school has been announced. All of the above won’r matter if you miss the admission screening exercise of your school. So to ensure you stay updated, constantly visit this website. To get information on the post-UTME admission screening of your school of choice.
